Like the last reviewer, I've been a fan of KISS since the days the Bally KISS Pinball machine was released, and so couldn't resist buying this piece of memorabilia (in spite of my age!). The machine looks great and the lights and sounds are fun, but the overall sense I get from playing it, is that if I allowed my kids to play it too often, it wouldn't last a day. As it is, I have been able to play with it a good bit and am able to use it without seemingly doing any damage. Loading the ball without it getting stuck can be a bit tricky at first, but you get used to it.
What is disapointing is that there are no instructions inside the box. Perhaps the manufacturer feels the simple guidelines printed on the box are enough, but they don't even tell you where the on/off switch is (on the base of the machine, right hand side).
They also don't tell you that the score-board (back-glass) has to be pushed very firmly into place in order for it to work properly.
I soon realized that there was some problem with the score-board as it wouldn't go past 999, and could hear there was a part loose. So I was able to unscrew the back panel, and re-attach a spring that had come off! Did it with the help of a unravelled saftey pin and was quite proud of myself! The bottom score is calculated automatically and then you have to adjust the top score by hand, to record your highest score. They are not digital, they are rotating wheels.
Finally I've got it working properly and it is quite fun, but I would definitely not recommend this for a child. Even for adults, would suggest this is a bit of a gamble.
