I got this toy as a gift. I think it says for babies 6 months and older, but I introduced it at about 3 months for tummy time. It was good because he could stay on his tummy, and push up with his arms to play with it. Also good for when he started sitting up (with help). He never did use the hammer to hit the balls in. He just used his hands which was apparently just fine for him. The balls are a nice size for little hands and we use them for lots of little games separate from the toy. And he liked to just hold the hammer like a rattle. I didn't want a lot of toys with lights and sounds, but this one it's annoying and my son really enjoyed it. It's a good early toy.
